Federal Foreign Language Competition

The drive took about an hour, and you could feel the excitement in our minibus. The air was electric, and the tension was palpable.
We arrived an hour early and had a bit of time left to spend in Schwerin, so we had some ice cream with our teachers. When the time finally came, we met up again and went to the Golden Hall, where the ceremony was about to take place. Nervously we found our seats and actually had to change them three more times before the event finally started. Everywhere you looked, you saw happy faces, all there for the same reason. Our passion for languages.
The ceremony began with a cute performance by an elementary school class and their award ceremony. After that, the group projects were up next, and after what felt like an eternity, the solo category started. Our excitement quickly turned into nervousness. Every single one of us listened expectantly.
The moment when we received our certificates from Mrs. Oldenburg (MV’s education secretary) and prizes was magical. Looking out at the crowd, every face was bright and smiling, clapping for us.
In the end, we may not have won first place, but I think the experience of meeting such a large group of people who share our passion was absolutely worth it. I highly recommend participating in this competition if you want to experience this incredible feeling next year. It truly was magical!
